“I don’t want to work anymore”, “I want freedom”, “I don’t want to live”, these are some of the lines which might dive into the pool of your depressed brain. There are situations where things might not go the way you want it to. There are situations where you will fail and you have to go through a tough time. In life, ‘obstacles’ are the failures and to get sweeter fruits (success), one needs to face them strongly. Therefore, don’t think of failures as your obstacles, rather think it as a catalyst to reach to your destination.

Steve Jobs, the co-founder of Apple Inc., has revolutionized many things and is an inspiration to all. Born to a single mother, given away for adoption, his early life was full of miseries. He dropped out of the college in which their parents admitted him by saving every last penny they could. His passion was more into electronics.

He went with his passion and always used to work on new things. He once met an alike person named Steve Wozniak and they both founded Apple. Even after being the founder, his failures and hindrances did not stop. He was fired from his own company and was unemployed. But his passion, determination to innovate, creativity was not unemployed. He worked harder and created new companies like Pixar and NEXT and overcame all his failures and turned them into opportunities to create new things.

He went on to learn from his experiences, create more businesses, and eventually return to help make Apple great again. Embracing his failure gave him the motivation to move further forward.

Steve Jobs believed that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to him. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed him to enter one of the most creative periods of his life. This teaches us that being a school/college dropout, being laid off from jobs, or facing recession period of your life is not the end. You need to rise up and hope always for the new rays to enter into your life with full commitment and perseverance.

Another success story is of APJ ABDUL KALAM, also known as the “Missile Man” of India. The former President of India had also experienced the taste of failure numerous times but he overcame and left an inspirational message for all. He is an epitome of success who believed that one should not just know how to handle success but also how to manage failures. His dearest dream was to become a fighter pilot but he failed after securing the ninth position when only eight slots were available in the IAF. This shows that even he could not achieve his dearest dream, life had another plan for him which he could accomplish by not giving up at the time of his failure.

Agni, the two most famous missiles A P J Abdul Kalam was behind, began with big failures, in other words, Kalam’s success in this field began with failures. In the year 1979, Dr. Abdul Kalam, as the Project Director of India’s first Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-III), could not succeed in it due to some technical issues and his team had to face enormous criticism from all quarters. However, Kalam withstood all and led his men to success within days. This teaches that we should always know how to manage our failures and not let them lead our lives into the wrong direction.

Don't Fear Facing Failure, APJ ABDUL KALAM

Personalities who are known for their net worth like Bill Gates, Richard Branson, and Walt

Disney, Dhirubhai Ambani, among many others have also first tasted failures and then got a chance to enjoy success. Some of the lessons which are common from everybody’s life story are:

●     Love what you do:

We should always love the work that we do. If the work is not done from the bottom of your heart then it won’t give you the right fruits. We should always be interested in something or the other and should always focus on that. Steve Jobs loved electronics and he dropped out of his college and focussed till his last breath on that thing. Hence, rightly choose a lover of your life and work for it.

●     Avoid negative people:

Never give any other person a chance to control you, your mind, your time. In this materialized world, you can believe very few people. Hence, it’s better not to let anyone control your mind and bring negative thoughts into your mind. The only person who can mould or control it is “YOU”. If you believe you can do it then surely you can. Trust yourself even if people do not trust you and do the work that makes you feel better. Pessimistic people are like weeds and will have a negative impact on morale.

●     Qualifications are not everything:

Steve Jobs never actually graduated from college and so did the many wealthy personalities. He taught us that what really counts is to have a positive mindset and how you nurture your skills. Paper qualifications are important, but they must always take second place in developing our skills. If you can develop skills with the work you passionately do then you don’t need to have many degrees.

●     Money must not dictate our projects:

Jobs wanted to change the world and his projects were all designed to create amazing products to make the world a better place. Making money was not his primary aim. He wanted to bring some changes in the society and that is what he taught us. We should focus more on how can we bring change without making profit maximization our first goal and then we can understand the customers easily.

●     Stop making Excuses:

Excuses are something that can take you away from your desired destination and you should never make any excuse. If you start making excuses, you won’t be able to find the main reason for not achieving what you had desired. Instead, always think and find, “WHY?” It is very important that you are able to find the correct reason and this can only be done if you don’t make any excuse and find your weaknesses. Crying won’t take you far, so it is better to work on those weaknesses. Always think – “I can do it”, and turn those failures into success.

● The most important lesson is to manage your failures:

We all should learn from the experiences of our friends, personalities, families and realize that failures are stepping stone to success and can help us in achieving the right path. Hence, we should start accepting and converting those failures into opportunities.

Life is just like a journey and if you want to end with a smile, be cheerful and happy throughout your life. Happiness is something which money cannot buy and you should always try to have a smiling face. Even if you are not happy about something, overloaded with work, you should always keep a smile on your face so that you can feel that and work more efficiently.
